Wall-e

Pixar has done it again!

The new science fiction family film is a huge hit. It has received received almost universal praise from critics. This is a sweet film with science fiction, comedy, and a dramatic love story. The animation is terrific and realistic, the robots are sweet and sympathetic and the cinematography is beautiful . This is a distant, but not so unrealistic future where humans are over dependent on machines, lazy, and, well, a bit fat.

Earth is filled with garbage, and it has become inhospitable, so the humans decide to leave. A trash collecting robot named WALL*E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) is left behind. After hundreds of years with his pet cockroach and doing what he was built to do (all the while mesmerized by trinkets of earth's history and show tunes), he discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE who was sent back to check up on Earth. EVE comes to realize that WALL*E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans. Meanwhile, WALL*E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets an adventure into motion. Joining WALL*E on his journey across the universe is a cast of characters including a pet cockroach and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots.

I think this films takes a satirical look at humans, and what our goals for a future, perfect utopia, is. It questions what we want, and shows you what is a very, very likely outcome of our desires for a 'better' world, showing both positive and negative effects.

This is a must see film of the year! The entire family will love it. Adults will enjoy it as much as the kids. There are things that will be nostalgic to older viewers, and things that younger viewers will love to look at. So if you have the time, go see WALL-E. You won't regret it!
