Evolution-- The great unifying theory of biological science. (theory: a set of related hypotheses that have been tested and confirmed by many scientists many times, so it is the closest science gets to an actual fact). It is amazing how our world has changed all these years. Creatures feeding off each other, adapting, struggling to survive. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. This is why if we can even find small bacteria somewhere other than Earth, it would be a colossal discovery! It would mean, that if everything went right, only a few billion years to wait till we get the crazy and wonderful creatures seen on sci-fi films!
